Shining a flash light, pulls away a curtain of darkness that permeates the dark and spooky hallways.

But that light is only a superficial escape.

There is no protection from the dangers that may lurk further down the corridor or around the corner, where the light doesn't reach.

The same holds true for medicine.

You can only treat the diseases you can reach with the techniques that you have.

But that isn't always enough though.

Cancer is one of those diseases that has a way of re-appearing from around the corner or worse, deeper within the darkness when you think you've killed it.

It sounds like the plot to a bad horror movie, one that millions of sick people are living every day.

Light Sciences Oncology (LSO), the hero of the hour, is now testing a new procedure.

A new technique, treating the cancer directly, would end the number of harmful side-effects afflicting cancer patients today.

The patients, both children and adult, could say good-bye to the premature balding and ravaging sickness due to commonly used chemotherapy treatments.

They would just have to endure a minor invasive procedure, one similar to a biopsy.

As a subsidiary of Light Sciences Corporation, LSO has the backing to make this, the-killing-lights, a new standard in cancer treatments.

The-killing-lights technique uses the combination of LEDs and a medication dubbed LS11 to cut off the supply of blood to the offending cancer cells.

The LS11 destroys the cells that allow blood to pass through, but only in a controlled area.

Since blood is now restricted from the cancerous body, it will die quickly.

The medication is initially inert, but when the LED lights are activated, the LS11 gets to work.

And if the medication is circulated through the blood stream, no worries, only the LS11 exposed to the light of the LED module is activated.

The beauty of this new technique is that once the light is turned off, the medication becomes inert and the cells supplying the cancer with life-giving blood are destroyed.

The cancer is left to choke to death.

The operation to place the LED is possibly the best part of the technology.

The biopsy-like process allows doctors to treat cancers that are impossible to remove or treat safely with conventionally means.

What was once hopeless can now be treated easily and effectively.

Currently, the Phase 2 trial treating liver cancer is underway and showing amazing results.

Overall tumour response rate, corroborated by independent radiologist reviews, was 24% in the treated tumours vs. 10% in untreated.

The disease control rate, which includes tumours which do not continue to grow, was 83%.

Future trials will be conducted on metastatic colorectal cancer, and Gioma (brain tumour).

This treatment is worth watching.

As the positive results keep fluttering in, hopefully the tragically stricken cancer victims will see a new and better age in cancer treatment ahead.
