the "Who"&the "Why"
Hi, many people ask "why" when it comes to our website.
So, let me make the introductions.
I’m J.R., Marilyn is on my right (your left) and that is Freddy in the middle with the bottle.
Freddy was a lion cub residing (at the time of our visit in 2005) at the MGM lion habitat in Las Vegas.
I say "was", cuz Freddy's a little older and I'm certain a whole lot bigger now.
Eveyone probably calls him "Fred" now.
It was so cool to be bottle feeding a lion cub.
I mean how often in our life-time do we get that chance?
So that you know us a little better, I’d like to tell you that Marilyn and I are from Vancouver, in beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
I’m asked almost daily how we became soooo interested in living longer and living younger, so I’d like to share a real quick story with you to illustrate why we’ve created Natures-Health-Foods.com.
Back in the day, I worked with an elderly fella named Frank, who walked to our office daily.
In fact he walked everywhere.
At that time, Frank, who was maybe 60ish, had a stronger heart, had better health and had more energy than many people half his age, including myself.
It constantly amazed me!
One morning, we encountered each other on the street and I saw he was walking with a pronounced limp.
I asked Frank, “what had happened?”
He explained that he had a case of “gout” in his big toe and that he was actually on his way to the local food market for a can of cherries.
“Pardon me, canned cherries”?
Who had ever heard of that? Frank explained that it really wasn’t the cherries he was after but the cherry juice.
The story seemed to get odder by the moment.
I quite incredulously asked, “what’s the deal with cherry juice”?
He explained that dark cherry juice was the perfect “natural” remedy for gout.
Okayyyyyyyy, I wished him luck and continued on my way to the office.
I saw him every day at the office, but three or was it four days later...you guessed it...no more limp, and...no more gout.
It was then that the proverbial "light bulb" went on.
I needed to know more about this (to me at the time) seemingly odd application of cherry juice...
...and to determine what the heck gout was.
I started by visiting the library.
Yes, we actually had to thumb through books back then. lol
The more I read, the more intrigued I became with the “natural” food remedies that Mother Nature herself provided.
Many of these natural remedies, neighbors had in their very own gardens.
My quest for knowledge in this matter was all-consuming.
I was a sponge!
I don’t know too many people who actually enjoy going to the Doctor, so I became more enthused with each natural discovery I made.
This all occurred more than twenty five years ago.
Back then, before the advent of the internet, I could only share my ever expanding knowledge with my friends, associates and family.
Only within the last few years did a family member suggest I share my passion and wealth of information with other like-minded individuals through the best means available...the world-wide-web.
And as they say, the rest is history.
Thats the "who & "why" of it all.
