Acne-Remedy ~ Natures Health Foods

Concern: Acne Remedy: Sugar Why it works: Sugar has a natural mild anti-bacterial effect. Since bacteria that develops in clogged pores triggers breakouts, sugar can help ward off future pimples. How to use it: Don't eat it! Mix sugar with a little bit of water to make a paste. Use the concoction to gently exfoliate your face. Rinse with plenty of fresh water. Other remedies to consider: Oats Why it works: Oats are a natural astringent and work to draw oil out of the skin. They are also a gentle exfoliant, helping to remove dead skin cells and other materials that can clog pores and lead to breakouts. How to use it: Make some oatmeal using whole grain, non-flavored oats according to package instructions. Set aside half a cup of cooked oats and let cool. Mix with water to make a thin paste. Apply to face and let dry for 15 minutes. Gently rinse with water. Acne-Remedy: Aloe Why it works: The juice of the aloe vera plant has been used for thousands of years as an acne-remedy and to treat skin conditions. It is believed that the plant's muco-polysaccharides are the active ingredients that help soothe skin. Aloe doesn't prevent acne, but it can help skin heal and minimize scarring. How to use it: You can buy packaged aloe vera gel at most drugstores. Many grocery stores sell large aloe leaves, or you may have your own aloe vera plant, just cut open a small piece and squeeze out the gel. What to watch out for: It's possible to be allergic to aloe. If you've never applied it to your skin before, test a small area and wait a few hours to make sure you can tolerate it.
