Caprese Salad

Caprese ~ Super Salads

Caprese Salad is a simple salad made of sliced, fresh, buffalo mozzarella, tomatoes and fresh basil, seasoned with sea salt, pepper, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Thought to be named for the island of Capri, the salad is actually found all over Italy.

Unlike most salads though, it's usually served as an antipasto (starter), not a contorno (side dish).

This is a perfect salad for a hot day (or any day for that matter).

Simple, easy and full of flavor.

We love how the flavors of mozzarella, basil and tomatoes blend together and topping them with a really good balsamic vinegar makes it an irresistible salad.

Besides the amazing flavor that comes from this recipe, my favorite part is how it makes you feel.

Refreshed and energized.

With this salad we would certainly recommend using as fresh and as premium ingredients as you can find!

Ingredients:

1 roma tomato

1 oz. fresh mozzerella (any kind will do, but we recommend Buffalo Mozzerella)

Handful fresh basil leaves

1 Tbs. extra virgin olive oil

1 Tbs. balsamic vinegar

freshly cracked black pepper

Preparation;

Slice the roma tomato into approx. 6 slices (just thick enough that they're sturdy enough to pick up and pop in your mouth).

Place a small slice of mozzerella on each tomato slice.

Place a fresh basil leaf on each.

Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Crack pepper over the top to taste.

Then, pop in your mouth one by one.
